About Vocational For School Students (VFSS)
Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are available to students while they are still at school. This is often referred to as VFSS.
VFSS learning which is directly related to work. Nationally recognised qualifications are developed by industry to give people the knowledge and skills they need to work in a particular job.
Students can gain additional SACE points at either Stage 1 or Stage 2 on successful completion of a qualification or short course. Students can use a Certificate III as a Stage 2 subject, which can contribute to their ATAR score on successful completion.Â

General Eligibility for Subsidised (Funded) Training
To be eligible for access to a subsidised training place in an approved course, a school student must meet the following criteria. They must be:
- An Australian citizen or New Zealand citizen or,
- A permanent Australian resident or,
- An eligible visa holder
- Reside in South Australia
AND ARE:
- Enrolled in Year 10, 11 or 12 and employed in a Training Contract that combines VET and school-based curriculum including SACE
OR ARE:
- Enrolled in Year 11, 12 or 13 and are 16 years of age or turning 16 years of age in the current year of that enrolment, and
- Are undertaking SACE or equivalent and,
- Have completed a preparatory VET pathway
Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Capabilities (LLND) Requirement

In response to ASQA Standards 1.7 Supporting Students and 5.1 to 5.3 Informing and Protecting Students, Skills SA has introduced the Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN) for school students undertaking publicly subsidised accredited training. School students must undertake the mandated short indicative assessment (SRNI) to assess if the individual is at the required ACSF Exit Level 2. If no further assessment is indicated, the individual can proceed in the UAN process. However, if further assessment is indicated, the student will need to undertake the Literacy and Numeracy Comprehensive Assessment (LaNCA) test to enable confirmation and establish the current ACSF Working Level and ACSF Exit Level. Queensford College will assess enrolment outcomes based on the gaps identified. If there are minor gaps Queensford College may provide assistance to the students directly. However, if significant gaps are identified in the LaNCA, the school will be required to provide the relevant support to those students. |
Eligibility for Fee for Service (Non-funded) Training
- Students must be enrolled in Year 10, 11 or 12.
- Meet Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements.

Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirement
 Students enrolled in non-funded FFS training will be required to undertake the Queensford College LLN assessment based on the ACSF framework. If the outcomes indicate lower than ACSF Exit Level 2, Queensford College will discuss this with the student and develop a plan to support the student by providing supplementary learning resources and direct support by trainers. |
- Computer Requirements
Students will need to ensure they are able to connect to the internet and have the capability to use our online learning system that meets the minimum technical requirements, which are:
- Access to a laptop/computer is preferred
- An operating system supporting the following browsers (current version and up to three most recent versions): Chrome, Firefox, Safari (excluding Safari on Windows), and Microsoft Edge
- For Windows: Windows 10, 4 Gb RAM installed (minimum)
- FOR MAC: Mac OS X 10.13 or above
- Access to Word processing software, such as Microsoft Word
- Reliable internet connection

School VET Coordinator to Sign Enrolment Form
Student to get the School VET Coordinator to sign the SA VFSS student enrolment form.

School Holiday Program
Our Short course programs will be run during the school holidays that can count towards SACE credits. Some courses will be run during school holidays that count towards SACE credit points.
