Course Overview

The Accounting Professional Year Program, initiated by the Department of Home Affairs, is specifically tailored for international graduates holding an Australian accounting degree. This program is a collaborative effort developed by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Institute of Public Accountants. Its primary aim is to bridge the gap between university education and professional employment in Australia for accounting graduates.

Queensford College offers a unique version of the Professional Year program, distinguishing itself from other providers. Our program is meticulously crafted, focusing on the ultimate objective of kick-starting your accounting career in Australia. The curriculum, exclusively available at Queensford College, is developed by industry experts from an employer’s perspective, ensuring relevance and practicality.

Overview of the Accounting Professional Year Program Structure:

The program spans 47 to 52 weeks and is segmented into three main stages:

Face-to-Face Classes (Stage 1):

This initial phase includes eight subjects, each spanning four weeks, amounting to 32 weeks of comprehensive formal learning. The training is designed to enhance your knowledge and communication skills, preparing you for successful integration into the Australian accounting workplace. Classes are conveniently scheduled once a week at our campuses in Sydney allowing flexibility around your personal commitments.

Interview Preparation and Internship Placement (Stage 2):

Concurrent with your studies, you will work with a Placement Consultant to begin the internship placement process. This phase includes extensive preparation, providing you with the necessary tools and knowledge to secure an internship. The focus during the two weeks following your coursework completion is on obtaining an internship placement.

Accounting Professional Work Integrated Learning Placement (Internship – Stage 3):

This stage, often the most thrilling for students, involves applying your acquired knowledge in a practical setting. You will engage in a 12-week professional internship within the accounting sector, facilitated by our specialized internship placement team. The internships are available across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane, and are tailored to align with your training and career aspirations.
